Our Selection Standard
CURATO is built around a simple principle: select for the customer, do not overstate the product.
1. Luster first
We begin with the way the pearl handles light. Strong, clear luster is one of the most important visual characteristics of a pearl.
2. Surface in context
Natural surface features are assessed in relation to the whole pearl. We distinguish between minor natural characteristics and marks that materially affect appearance.
3. Shape and proportion
We look at roundness, symmetry and whether the shape works well with the jewelry design.
4. Color and overtone
Color is evaluated in real viewing conditions, not only under strong studio lighting.
5. Matching
For pairs and strands, consistency in luster, color, size and visual balance matters as much as the quality of an individual pearl.
6. Clear description
We aim to show certificates, pearl-layer information, dimensions, materials and visible characteristics when they are available and relevant.
Our goal is not to make every piece sound perfect. Our goal is to help you understand why a particular piece is worth considering.
